Humans (you and I) are selfish by nature.
Jesus carried the weight of the worlds sin on the cross, he bore all our sins, transgressions, iniquity in order to give you the chance of eternal salvation.
“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed”-Isiah 53:5
For the most part, I think its safe to say that a lot of us begin attending church for right reasons. When we finally realize how lost we are, how much we’ve messed up, how much we need a Saviour. But my question to you is, how does this continue to be your reason to serve faithfully and dilligently and is it the only one?
It honestly pains me to see so many people go through their first love, on fire stage for God and the months or a couple years in that flame begins to die. Why does this happen? How?
I am no one of high power, high intellect, or lived long enough to know much of anything. But I carry with me nothing but experiences.
If I had to answer, I would say because we loose sight of WHO God is and WHY we should surrender our life to Him.
A lot of us fall victims to simply be driven by a set of emotions (which are so unstable and fickle). We get to church, get into the presence of God and we are good. A few tears are shed at alter, had an uplifting message heard and our conscious feels clear. We’ve had our dose of Jesus for the week.
But what happens when you’re in a season of testing? Do you remember that the essence of God does not change based on your circumstance, troubles? That He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Jesus needs to be the rock on which you stand.
What do you need to do when your neighbour in church is gossiping about you? Turn to Jesus. What do you need to do when you’re being judge, mocked, persecuted from your own family? Turn to Jesus. What do you need to do when you feel like you don’t fit in? Turn to Jesus. What do you need to do when traumatic news just came to you? Turn to Jesus. What do you need to do when the congregation is falling apart? Turn to Jesus. What do you need to do when someone in the ministry team fails you? Turn to Jesus. What do you need to do when you’re just confused, angry, and lost? TURN TO JESUS. I hope someone see’s my point here.
What does turning to Jesus look like?
For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. -Luke 11:10
Jesus remains the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. See, despite your situation – God does not change.

We should be SO HUNGRY for God that people shouldn’t be asking us where we were at church that Sunday, or Tuesday youth night – because truth is we were already there 30minutes early helping around the church. We need a generation of Christians thats purpose is because they truly get the concept of how God, being able to wipe us all out decided instead to bare pain on the cross, for a chance at your own personal salvation. A generation that doesn’t loose sight or hope because of the tribulations of this world, a generation that constantly meditates on the great power of God. A generation that doesn’t get distracted or tossed with the waves of this world. The world desperately need a hungry, army, of God.
WE NEED TO GET HUNGRY FOR MORE:
WE NEED AN ARMY OF CHRIST:
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God
Study your identity in Christ
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.-1 Peter 2:9
Pray without ceasing -1 Thessalonians 5:17
We need a generation that is pained by the things God is pained by.
A generation seeking after the heart of the Almighty .
People would always ask me why do faithful servants of God need to suffer, why must they suffer at the cost of other people’s sin.
In the book of Job, it really focuses on that. Job was a faithful servant of the Lord and because of this he was greatly blessed all around. In the beggening of the book of Job a dialogue happens between God and Satan. God gives permission to Satan to strike Job and take away all of his blessings meaning eventually even his health. So the book then is based on Job complaining to his friends about how could God do this, and why, and it’s not fair, that what awful sin has he been accused of to get such a huge punishment. But in all of this Job never curses God or turns away from God- which is what Satans whole goal was, he wanted Job to condemn God and turn away completely from him.
It’s not until chapter 38 that God finally directly speaks to Job, because just right before God speaks one of Jobs friends is talking to Job and telling him how he needs to humble himself before God, asking for forgiveness, repenting, and the friend begins talking about the great wisdom and power of God. Saying things like
““Listen to this, Job; stop and consider God’s wonders. Do you know how God controls the clouds and makes his lightning flash? Do you know how the clouds hang poised, those wonders of him who has perfect knowledge? You who swelter in your clothes when the land lies hushed under the south wind, can you join him in spreading out the skies, hard as a mirror of cast bronze?”
Job 37:14-18 NIV
So it really unwraps and unfolds beautifully because then God directly finally speaks and the first thing he says is : “Then the Lord spoke to Job out of the storm. He said: “Who is this that obscures my plans with words without knowledge? Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me.”
Job 38:1-3 NIV
God states that Jobs complaining and raging against him are unjustified and proceed from limited understanding. He then goes on to say ““Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand.”
Job 38:4 NIV
If that doesn’t cause you to stop, reflect and humble yourself before an Almighty God, I’m not sure what will. It’s so easy to get angry with God or declare for an explanation when things in your life are going all wrong. But what amazes me from this scripture is that God never gave Job the direct answer he sought, instead God answered by questioning Job and more importantly God never humilates or condemns Job. Instead causes the divine discourses to bring Job into complete faith in God’s wisdom and goodness.
As it should be, remember that God loves you. A love beyond our understanding, no width, height, length or depth can contain. Let your dark valleys bring you closer to Him with learning how to depend on Him alone. Following the leading of his Spirit.
God bless you.
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.”Psalms 139:23-24 NKJV
Think about what that verse means to you and how it can come alive in your own personal life.
We pray for Him to seek our heart, but sometimes we fail to discern when that’s happening because we suppress or hide the pain, anger, bitterness, jealousy, etc away . This could be an example of why prayer is so important when we feel hurt or any other negative feeling because through prayer we can be healed and made whole.
What I’m trying to say is that sometimes when we feel hurt or any other negative emotion may be because God is treating our hearts, trying to get our attention so we can bring our pain into His light for healing.
Don’t be a part time Christian when God is not a part time Saviour.
“Don’t say God has been silent when your bible has been closed.”
Sometimes I think we forget the impact reading the bible can have, or unfortunately sometimes all we do is just skim through the words in there, reading aloud, with no intention of actually letting it speak for itself, so we can say “yeah I’ve read the bible”.
Anyone can read the bible, anyone. However, not all come to understand or be affected by it. We need the guidance of the Holy Spirit to help us understand and apply the bread of life to our lives.
Before you open the gift of truth God has given us, pray, for understanding and wisdom.
Below I’ve added a prayer that you could say before reading, I honestly just came up with it sparatically and thought I’d share if someone has difficulty coming up with how to pray themselves.
Remember, prayer doesn’t need to have big old fancy words – it’s what your saying and with what sincerity you mean it that matters. God knows your heart.
Ps. In prayer begin with exalting and praising God for who He is, then asking for forgiveness for your daily sins and short comings so you can come clean to him and he will hear you (because he is holy and righteous, does not mix himself with sin) then begin with your personal request and pherhaps a good idea would be to also close with exalting him. You will find him when you earnestly begin to praise and worship him 🙂
Lord I want to thank you for being the one and only true sovereign God. For being a God of patience, love, filled with abundant grace for your children even when we do you wrong or come through short. Lord I pray in this moment that you will wash away all my sins as I come before you. Lord, hear my cries from heaven and enable me to be guided and filled with the wisdom and knowledge of your Spirit as I come before your Word and begin to open it, seeking for your voice. Touch my heart, mind, soul through your word oh God. Give me the strength, hope, security that I need as I begin to read your precious promises and commands. Thank you Lord, for giving me countless opportunities to genuinely come clean and receive your love. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
Hello again you beautiful lovely souls,
I am kind of on a blog rampage mode today (but that’s okay, right?)
here is one more book that I would love to share with you
It’s a really good book that also allows us to reflect on our walk with Christ, it provokes thoughts of wether or not we are really being sensitive to the leading of the Spirit and how obedient we are in walking with Him.
Do you just acknowledge His existence and go on living according to your own wants/needs/desires.. or are you truly walking in step of the Spirit as we are called to do so?
“If your attitude is one of gratefully searching for God’s truth & goodness in any situation, it will change your life.”
― Stormie Omartian, Lead Me, Holy Spirit: Longing to Hear the Voice of God
Hello all you lovely beautiful souls,
I would like to just very shortly write about an amazing book that I found was such a boost in my walk with God.
Agh, if you haven’t read this book yet – I strongly recommend you do so. I honestly took so much out of it, just being a tiny, little, baby, Jesus follower. It challenged me in the things I was doing and the things I wasn’t doing. It challenged me to reflect on how dedicated and noble I was to obeying God’s word and I loved every moment of it!
But God doesn’t call us to be comfortable. He calls us to trust Him so completely that we are unafraid to put ourselves in situations where we will be in trouble if He doesn’t come through.”
